John 9:4 I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work.
Let it never be said of us that we are so busy with our own work and ambitions that we forget to take the time to look around us at the works of God in the lives of others. With so many in desperate need of the Gospel, we need verses like this one to remind us to take every opportunity the Lord gives us to share the Gospel. Summer in northern Japan has been brief, but it has also been filled with so many special opportunities to minister and to get involved in the community. Many of these chances to meet new people only come around once a year, so we must constantly be ready for these special situations. We have much to praise the Lord for as we look back over the past few weeks. By God’s grace and goodness to us, our family continues to adapt well to the busy city life here in our new town. We have grown very close to the church members. The Lord is doing a truly remarkable work here, and we are so very honored to be a part of it.
We have been privileged to witness the growth and maturity of several believers in the church. It is such a great joy to see the Lord so evidently working in the hearts of His people. There have been special testimonies almost each week of God’s power and moving. Just recently, two young men surrendered to be missionaries. The church has been so excited about this exciting news. We would like to ask you to please join us in prayer on their behalf. Please pray for their protection from the devil and for clear direction from the Lord as they seek His will for the future. We are looking forward to seeing what the Lord has planned for their lives.
With our children all entering the Japanese school system here at the same time, we have been able to meet many people in the community. Please join with us in prayer that these opportunities will yield fruit as we have been inviting several to attend church. We have taught our children from the very first day of school that the greatest thing they can do as a student is to be a faithful witness for Jesus. We have been so blessed to see them grow in their comfort level and language ability. We all still have a long way to go, but they have been faithfully inviting their friends to our home and to church. The Lord has blessed each of our kids with friends who have shown interest in our family and way of life. Anna especially has had a best friend since the first day of school. After inviting her friend to come to Sunday school, she agreed. That following Sunday not only did Anna’s friend show up but her Mother and two sisters came as well.
Since then, they have attended every Sunday school class and have even stayed for the preaching service twice now. Please join with me in prayer that her father will attend church with them and that the entire family will trust Jesus as their Savior. Anna has since been especially excited to see God use her to witness to her friends. Suzuran Bible Baptist Church has been growing in many ways, and we truly appreciate and value your prayers as we work together to reach Japan for Christ.
