I Timothy 1:5-7

5 For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus; 6 Who gave himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time. 7 Whereunto I am ordained a preacher

These were the verses I read as I explained that it was God and God alone who has done the work in saving me, calling me, and preparing me for the Gospel ministry in Japan.  I can’t wait to get to Japan to begin learning Japanese in order to reach the lost in Japan with the truth of God’s word.

It was a wonderful service and exciting time for Heather and myself.  Brother Mark Mitchel gave a wonderful and very encouraging charge to the church to be faithfully involved in the work of missions. I really don’t know how a church could be more involved and loving but it was very well received nonetheless.

Pastor Bell later brought a charge for me which was very powerful, heartfelt, and appreciated.  I am learning so much these days as we prepare more and more to get to the field.  Pastor Bell and his wife, Lynne, have a very deep burden to help us in every way possible and we really appreciate their love for God and for others.

The thing I remember being most helpful throughout the entire Ordination was that the ministry belongs to God. Since the ministry consists of people who also belong to God all that is really needed to be an effective Gospel preacher is Gods love and power. It is my desire that God would continue using me and my family to proclaim the truths of God’s love and forgiveness to all who we come in contact with.

I was so thankful to have my parents arrive unexpectedly from North Carolina.  They have been extremely supportive of our decision to serve God in Japan since I first announced my call.  We have been very blessed on both sides of our family to have wonderful parents who are supportive of God’s will for our lives, even if it means saying goodbye to grandchildren for years at a time.  This is certainly a treasure to us and one we pray brings them much favor with God in the days ahead.

Mrs. Lynne and the ladies of the church went all out in decorating and in celebration of the special occasion for us. I received a new KJV leather-bound study bible and Heather got a very nice computer purse. There were even present for all the kids.  We had a wonderful time and just want to thank all who have had a part in helping us get to where we are today.  God has used so many to help us and we would not be here today were it not for His grace upon us.  From the bottom of our hearts we thank you.
